Port Macquarie is 420 km North of Sydney and 500 km south of Brisbane. The drive from Sydney takes about 4 hours. Freeway conditions to Newcastle, then dual carriageway on and off most of the way to Port Macquarie. Upgrading to full dual carriageway is well under way. It is also accessible by small commercial aircraft and by rail.

Nearby Facilities


Woolworths, Coles, Big W and Target are all represented in two large shopping complexes in Port Macquarie. A free shopper bus operates at Christmas time to Settlement City shopping complex. Regular markets around Port offer fresh produce as well as local arts and crafts. Other towns in the area have individual shops, but plenty of them. Wauchope has an interesting variety of art and craft shops and a monthly farmer’s market.


Nearest Airport

Port Macquarie with flights to Sydney several times each day. The flight takes just one hour. Daily flights to Brisbane are also available.

Kempsey.

Intercity coach service to centre of Port Macquarie. Regular local bus services.


Hospitals

The Port Macquarie Base Hospital is a major public hospital, very modern and well equipped. Also Wauchope District Memorial Hospital. There are community health centres at Camden Haven, Port Macquarie and Wauchope, as well as numerous doctors’ clinics.
